The Face Shop Over Girl Edge Lip Crayon RD02 is the first shade I bought from the line. To be honest, my first choice was RD01, but it was out of stock at the time. I might go back another day hoping that it’ll be available by the time I drop by the store again. 😉
I only found out about the The Face Shop Over Girl when I dropped by their shop last week to repurchase their nail polish remover. But the display really called out to me, so I ended up buying an Edge Lip Crayon and an Edge Stick Eyes as well.
THE FACE SHOP OVER GIRL

Express a vivid and distinct lip line with an edge shaped like water-drop.
The precise application of a lip liner and the vivid color of a lipstick are what you get from this hot, new line. Glides exquisitely upon application, these lip crayons deliver bold pigments in creamy matte texture without sacrificing moisture. In ten high-octane collectible hues.
THE FACE SHOP OVER GIRL
EDGE LIP CRAYON RD02
The Face Shop Over Girl Edge Lip Crayon RD02 is a semi matte lip crayon with a semi matte finish. It is a bright, cool-toned medium red with a beautiful velvet matte finish, almost like the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets. According to The Face Shop, it gives a pastel, silky finish. It delivers vivid color definition and draws neat lines without any smudging, so there is no need for a separate lip liner. This is due to the water drop shape of the lipstick edge which makes it easy to draw lip color especially along the edges. It has a liner + lipstick double impact effect.
It has no annoying scent nor taste, which is a plus! Especially for those who are sensitive to fragrances. In the arm swatch below, you can see how pretty RD02 is. It is quite pigmented as one swipe is already semi opaque. Three swipes will give a more even and opaque coverage.
Edge Lip Crayon RD02 is a sexy red lip color, but it’s not an over-the-top red that can only be worn on special occasions. I think it’s a great everyday color if you’re into red lipsticks. If you will base the color from the packaging, you would think that it was a dark red. Which was what I thought at first. But when I swatched it, I saw how it’s so different than the color of the packaging.
Its color can be built-up for a more opaque coverage. Even without a lip concealer underneath, Over Girl Edge Lip Crayon RD02 would still work on those with pigmented lips like me. Application is easy, but a bit tricky at first. Probably because I’m not used to the water drop edge shape. 😉 But because it has a smooth texture, it glides easily over the lips without any tugging or dragging at all. I also didn’t experience it bleeding on me, nor does it feather on my lips.
I was surprised that RD02 was not drying on my lips, even though it has a matte finish. It also does not settle into lip lines, and is a bit forgiving on dry lips. I didn’t find it accentuating my dry flakes and patches. I would still recommended exfoliating the lips well first before application. If you have dry lips, it would also be advisable to apply a good lip balm beforehand for extra hydration. It’s not moisturizing on my lips, but it’s fine. I’m just happy that it’s not drying on my lips.
In the lip swatches above, you’ll notice that it’s not overly bright on my lips. I thought it was going to be as bright as in the arm swatches, but it wasn’t so. It’s just bright enough that it brightens up my face, and it’s just the right shade of red that can be worn even with a daytime makeup look. It sets really well on my lips and doesn’t slide around. It lasts around 4 to 5 hours with minimal eating. After eating and drinking, there is still some stain left on my lips. However, with greasy foods, all the color is gone.

The Face Shop recommends to use the upper water drop edge to apply lip line. Then use the lower water drop edge to fill the center of the lips.
The Edge Lip Crayon comes in a plastic packaging that is really cute and trendy. Very appropriate for the younger generation, and the young-at-heart like me as well. Lol! It’s a retractable tube, just like the NARS Pure Matte lipsticks. To get more product out, you just have to twist half of the tube. Unlike the Over Girl Edge Stick Eyes, these lip crayons do not indicate the shade in the outer packaging.
I bought my Over Girl Edge Lip Crayon RD02 for Php495 from The Face Shop in Robinsons Manila. Overall, it is a good matte red lipstick, however, it’s a bit pricey because you only get 0.6g worth of product. But if you have the means to buy it, then you might want to check it out. I personally love it, and I can’t wait to go back to the store to check if they have RD01 available already. 😀 I think it’s also available at Amazon.com, I’m just not sure how much.
Do you like matte red lipsticks? Or do you prefer them shiny and glossy? What do you think about The Face Shop Over Girl Edge Lip Crayon RD02?
