The new Chanel Rouge Coco Collection is not one to be missed. Chanel had reformulated their Rouge Coco lipticks and added a lot of new shades. As far as I know, the only original shades are Mademoiselle, Gabrielle, Sari Dore and Teheran. The rest are all new shades and names. If you’ve been reading my blog for the past months, then you might remember that I’ve compared the NARS Audacious Lipsticks to Chanel lipsticks. I mentioned that the new NARS lipsticks are much better than Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet’s formula. I was really hoping that Chanel would reformulate their lipsticks.
Well, what do you know? I think the people at Chanel are reading my blog, too. Because they just did what I hoped them to do! Lol! 😀 It was not Rouge Allure Velvet that they reformulated, though. But what they did was even better. A lot of the Rouge Coco lipsticks are being skipped by makeup addicts because of the formula. Well, not all shades. Some of the Rouge Cocos are excellent, but most shades can really do better.
The original Rouge Coco lipsticks are described as “Hydrating Creme Lip Colour” while these new Rouge Cocos are described as “Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour”. I am really excited with this new formula, and my expectations are really high. When Chanel says Ultra Hydrating, I do hope that they will be really mega, ultra hydrating on my lips! If there are shades in the old Rouge Coco formula that you love, you might want to get backups now before the Chanel counters run out of them. In the Chanel website, the old Rouge Cocos are not shown anymore, meaning that they’ll be discontinued and replaced with this newly reformulated ones.

A little backstory: IN LOVE WITH ARTHUR
A brilliant English businessman. Seductive and cultured. Mystically inclined. Arthur Capel, also known as ‘Boy’, was the great love of Gabrielle Chanel’s life. In 1913, he and Coco Chanel were drawn to coastal Deauville, France – and Mademoiselle chose the thriving international resort as the site of her first fashion boutique. Boy inspired her, challenged her and captured her heart.
Now, Gabrielle Chanel and Boy Capel’s love story is reflected in a romantic shade of red, ‘Arthur’, in the expressive new Rouge Coco Lip Colour Collection. Featuring 29 vibrant shades named for those closest to Coco, the collection introduces a hydrating formula that wraps lips in comfort.

Keira Knightley’s Love-struck Lips
Did you notice Keira Knightley wearing the new Rouge Coco Etienne at the Golden Globes? The shade is described as a cranberry, and it is under the reds collection. Chanel Celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee turned Rouge Coco into a ‘lip stain’ for her, and the effect is a soft and tender look on the red carpet.
Discover the complete collection, available now at Nordstrom, Saks and Neiman Marcus. Each of the new Rouge Coco lipsticks are priced at $36. The previous Rouge Cocos were priced at $35, like the Rouge Allures. With the $1 price increase, I just hope that the new formula delivers really well. All the shades are not listed as Limited Edition, so a big hurrah for that! I hope they don’t change it once the collection is officially released next month.
Do you also think that this is Chanel’s answer to the very successful NARS Audacious Lipsticks Collection? Heck, there’s even a Vera, Julia and Catherine! These are great NARS Audacious lipstick shades. NARS Vera is so gorgeous and I have loved it ever since I reviewed it here. I have already bought Arthur, Etienne, Roussy and Ina, and might get Coco, Olga, Elise, Emilienne and Jean next. What shades, if ever, are you planning to buy from the newly reformulated Chanel Rouge Coco Collection?

I hope this is better than their reformulated foundation (it’s awful now!). Definitely need to get a few of those nudes though.
Hi E! Based from the four shades I’ve tried, these are definitely way better than the previous formula. I’ve already reviewed Chanel Arthur Rouge Coco, so if you want to check that out, you can find the review here.
Which foundation is that? I love their Perfection Lumiere and Vitalumiere Aqua, but those two were not reformulated. I haven’t tried their other liquid foundations like Lift Lumiere, though. There was one foundation that I’ve heard so much good things about, Teint Innocence, but then Chanel discontinued it before I could buy one. 🙁
I love them all! I don’t know wich to choose
Hi Mirjana! If you like red lipsticks, then you might want to try Arthur first. 🙂
