NARS Audacious in Raquel is described as a pink beige. In the tube, it looks like a warm nude beige with a very subtle hint of pink that is not really noticeable.
Swatched on the arm (photo below), NARS Raquel is a really light nude pink which has a yellowish brown undertone. Before I bought it, I had been warned by the SA that this might be too light for my taste, but I ignored her and still bought Raquel. 😀
It was early last week when I bought NARS Raquel, but didn’t have the opportunity to try it out until today. On my lips, Raquel is a true nude color with a bit of satin sheen. It looks like a very light pink beige on my lips, but it doesn’t wash me out too much. I believe Raquel would look great with a full-on eye makeup. In the photo below, I only have Raquel on, so I look a bit ghastly, especially because I’m a little sick today.
The satin sheen is gone after blotting it twice, and Raquel looks more matte.
NARS Raquel is quite pigmented, and one swipe is all I need to have an opaque color. In the lip swatches in this post, though, what I did was swipe on 1 layer, blot, then add another layer.
The texture of NARS Raquel is comparable to the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets, but better. It is smooth and creamy, and has a very subtle satin finish. NARS Raquel glides easily on the lips, and doesn’t settle on the lip lines. For a satin-matte nude lipstick, Raquel seems to be a little bit hydrating and not drying at all. I didn’t have to apply a lip balm underneath it as Raquel doesn’t aggravate the dryness of my lips. It doesn’t tug on my lips and stays for a good 3 to 4 hours.
Without blotting, the initial satin sheen is gone after just a little more than an hour, and NARS Raquel becomes more matte, but is still not drying. After eating and drinking, I have to reapply it because Raquel doesn’t hold well. It also doesn’t leave even a tiny bit of stain, but I don’t care because reapplying it is such a luxurious treat! 😉

I bought my NARS Raquel for Php1,650 from NARS in Rustans Essences, Ermita. Even though Raquel is too light for my taste, it still is worth the price because the texture is just heavenly, and I feel like I will be using it a lot as a base for my gradient lip. NARS Raquel is definitely for keeps! 😀

Unlike previous NARS lipsticks, the Audacious collection are housed in a matte-black metallic case and NARS is embossed in the bullet. The NARS Audacious’ new magnetic case is similar to some of the high-end lipstick cases like Burberry and Tom Ford. Although the new Audacious packaging is easily smudged with my thumbprints, they can easily be cleaned.
NARS Raquel is the sixth to get added to my NARS Audacious collection and I can’t wait to buy more. Have you tried any of the Audacious lipsticks? How many have you collected so far? What is your favorite? It’s so fun to collect the Audacious lipsticks so it’s a great thing that they’re permanent. I hope they add new colors in the future, and name one either Alyssa or Melanie! 😀
Stay fab and savvy! ✌
