Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick is one of the Color Show Lipsticks that had been released earlier this year. I think this line is only available in Asia because I couldn’t find it in Maybelline New York’s (US) website. I wouldn’t have noticed them if they hadn’t been on sale. But after I’ve swatched them on my arm, I was really surprised at how the colors and texture of the lipsticks got me interested.
From hot color to brilliant season it-pieces, Color Show offers only the hottest fashion colors & all the most convenient and advanced formula. The Color Show line contains 4 categories of just the right mix of shades to complement anyone’s skin tone, being: Reds, Pinks, Plums or Nudes.
☆ Intense Color – highest concentration of stain pigments
☆ Hot, Rainy, Humid Proof – Most stable color from 20-45°C
☆ Fragranced Lip Color
Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick is a medium, flamingo pink that is warm-toned. Tiny bits of micro shimmers are quite visible in the lipstick bullet. When swiped on my arm, the silver micro shimmers are also noticeable. With just 1 swipe, the finish is a bit sheer. Maybelline Crushed Candy is buildable, though, so it could still work on those with pigmented lips like me. To achieve a more opaque and even color, around 5 swipes is recommended. In the swatches on my arm, you will notice how it is semi-sheer with just 1 swipe.
Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick looks like it would work with most skintones and undertones. If you prefer sheer lip color or full-on opaque coverage, both can be achieved with this lipstick. It will just depend on whether you like the shade of Maybelline Crushed Candy on you.
The texture of Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick is creamy and smooth. It has a frosty and almost shimmery, shiny finish comparable to that of MAC frost lipsticks. Maybelline Crushed Candy glides easily on the lips and does not tug at all. I could wear it even without a lip balm or lip liner underneath and it doesn’t smear nor feather.
With just a single layer of Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick on my lips, it is semi-sheer. Once built up to full-coverage opaqueness, the frosty finish is very apparent. I forgot to take pictures of it on my lips, but will add it here once I’ve done so. It is not drying, but doesn’t feel moisturizing either. After eating and drinking, there was just a little amount of color left on my lips but not enough not to warrant a fresh new layer.
Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick doesn’t leave any stain at all and the staying power is a little disappointing. It only lasts around 2 to 3 hours on my lips before reapplication is needed. But for a lipstick at this price range, who would complain, right?

I bought my Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick for Php145 from Maybelline in Robinsons Department Store, Manila. It was on sale because the regular price is Php165. The package looks cool enough and is very light because it’s just plastic. But still, it’s not so bad, considering that the price is fairly cheap. The only thing that I don’t like about Maybelline Crushed Candy is it’s scent and taste. But it’s still not as overbearing as the scent and taste of Burberry lipsticks, so it can be ignored. 😉
Have you tried Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy Lipstick or any of the Color Show lipsticks? How do you feel about frosty and shimmery lipsticks?
