When it comes to lipsticks, MAC is one of the leading mid-end brands, if not the leader. Before I even tried out other high-end brands like Chanel and Dior, my first ever lipstick was a MAC.
I had tried MAC Lustering years before, but hadn’t really appreciated it then because I didn’t like the fact that it’s too sheer. But a few weeks back, I had accidentally put it on, mistaking it for another, and I was surprised at how beautiful it was.
What M•A•C says about their lipsticks:
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M•A•C famous.
The color on the tube is a dark, pinkish red, almost rose. When swatched on my arm, it is a sheer, watermelon pink. With more swipes, it leans more red than pink.
MAC Lustering has a lustre finish, but unlike other MAC Lustre lipsticks I’ve tried like Bombshell, it’s not drying at all, especially on my almost-always dry lips. It even seems to be a little bit on the moisturizing side. It glides on easily without tugging on my lips, and feels a bit creamy.
On my lips, MAC Lustering is a very gorgeous sheer, watermelon pink with a shiny finish. It being sheer and of lustre finish, it only lasts around 2-3 hours before I have to reapply. But I’m not complaining, because it feels so luxurious to apply. 🙂
I bought Lustering from MAC in Mall of Asia for Php1, 000. I want to buy another one so I can have a backup because it looks like I will be able to finish up this tube soon. If you want to buy this shade as well, you might want to call the M•A•C stores near you first, to check if they have it in stock before dropping by. Alternatively, you may also purchase it online from Nordstrom or Macy’s for $16.

Have you tried Lustering yourself? What do you think about it? Is it worth the money even if it’s sheer? Do you know of any dupes or cheaper alternative to it?
