I do love the colors of Spring. So cheerful and fresh. That’s why, when it comes to makeup, I tend to favor Spring and Summer collections. But what excites me about this collection is its focus on California Summer. Los Angeles, to be precise.
During my years of stay in Southern California, I haven’t really seen the sun rising over the horizon. Lots of sunsets, yes, but no sunrise. This is due to my being a night person. By the time I wake up in the morning, the sun is already high in the sky. But I do love L.A. and California. Especially Orange County, where my husband and I lived for a few years.
On Summer weekends when we don’t go out of town, we often end up going to the mall. Then, after shopping at either Irvine Spectrum, South Coast Plaza or Fashion Island, we’d always drive up Pacific Coast Highway and go to Huntington Beach. We would spend the afternoon chatting and people-watching at the beach. Then we’d go back down to Newport Beach and watch the sunset while enjoying a bucket of lobster and Dungeness crabs at Joe’s Crab Shack (our favorite hangout in Newport Beach).
However near and simple, those were great times indeed. Summer is the time when you can enjoy a day without having to leave town. It really spells H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S! 😀
The Chanel Spring 2016 Makeup Collection is as joyful and colorful as summer in California. Although, there are only a few items that called out to me.
CHANEL SPRING 2016 MAKEUP COLLECTION
COLLECTION L.A. SUNRISE
Discover a colour collection that reveals the vibrant mood of an endless Los Angeles summer. Flashes of purple, teal and green capture the city’s carefree spirit, while a dreamy spectrum of pink, coral and raspberry shades evoke the California morning skies.
CHANEL SPRING 2016 MAKEUP COLLECTION FAVORITES
SUNKISS RIBBON BLUSH
I love the interlaced ribbon design of the Sunkiss Ribbon blush! This is another one of Chanel’s Limited Edition items that we wouldn’t want to use so as not to mess up the design. 😮
But the colors in the palette are so pretty. You can choose from beige, coral and pink shades. Or, mix all the colors by swirling the brush around the palette. It will surely brighten anyone’s cheeks! You will also achieve a subtle but radiant glow with its satin smooth finish.
LES 4 OMBRES MULTI-EFFECT QUADRA EYESHADOW
262 Tisse Beverly Hills
When it comes to eyeshadows, I prefer browns and warm, earth tones. Sometimes, though, I do like to use a little blue or purple.
Aside from its pretty name, Tisse Beverly Hills, I also love the shades in this palette. Reminds me of twilight, though. Not sunrise. 😉
LE VERNIS NAIL GLOSS
683 Sunrise Trip (Limited Edition)
A glamorous touch for any look. This Spring-exclusive formula features a gel-like fluid texture that glides on nails for a streak-free application and a high-shine, glossy result.
I was really decided on getting Sunrise Trip. Not just because I love its shade, but also because of its gel-like texture. Too bad, though, that it’s already out of stock. Even in Chanel’s own online store. 🙁
Was it supposed to be named Sunset Strip? On the rough draft of this post, I typed Sunset Strip instead of Sunrise Trip. I guess it’s automatic for me because we’re talking about L.A. and Beverly Hills here. So I kept checking on the picture to confirm that it’s really named Sunrise Trip, not Sunset Strip nor Sunset Trip. 😀
ROUGE COCO SHINE HYDRATING SHEER LIPSHINE
Oh em gee! I love all three shades! I can’t get enough of these Rouge Coco Shines. How about you? Which of these shades are you buying? Or are you also buying all three?
OTHER ITEMS IN THE CHANEL COLLECTION L.A. SUNRISE
ILLUSION D’OMBRE LONG-WEAR LUMINOUS EYESHADOW
118 Moonlight Pink (Limited Edition)
122 Ocean Light (Limited Edition)
126 Griffith Green (Limited Edition)
This intensely shimmering long-wear eyeshadow offers true versatility. An innovative gel texture that is both soft and cushiony allows it to be worn as an eyeshadow or eyeliner. Includes a specially designed shadow/liner brush, developed specifically for the unique formula.
These tubs of gorgeous colors last a long time. I have never, not even once, finished a pot of Illusion D’Ombre.
Anyway, my favorite out of the three is Griffith Green, but I feel that it wouldn’t suit me. Moonlight Pink, once on my eyes, looks almost similar to Envol. Ocean Light is also a ‘no’ for me.
STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF LONG-LASTING EYELINER
924 Fervent Blue
925 Pacific Green (Limited Edition)
926 Purple Choc
Waterproof, smudge-proof eyeliner delivers long-lasting definition with a twist of the wrist: Colour winds up when you need it, winds down when you don’t. Gentle, soft, silicone-enriched formula delivers smooth, even lining. A built-in sharpener at the opposite end detaches for quick refreshes.
If I’m going to buy one from the three available shades, it would be Pacific Green. Not just because it’s a Limited Edition shade. But also because I currently don’t have a similar one in my makeup stash. However, there’s just not enough pull. Probably because I tend to steer away from green makeup. Don’t even mention green lipsticks! 😀
ROUGE DOUBLE INTENSITE ULTRA WEAR LIP COLOR
69 Tender Beige
Glorious long-lasting colour paired with high-shine gloss delivers full-coverage colour that lasts all day. Glossy top coat imparts brilliant shine and superb hydration, while the innovative fluid texture of the base colour coat applies smoothly, comfortably, with perfect adherence to lips – and no transferring or feathering.
It’s not super unique for me to order it from abroad. Well, I guess, even if it is available locally, I still wouldn’t buy it. Extremely dupable, if you ask me. 🙂
LE VOLUME DE CHANEL MASCARA
100 Ardent Purple
This high-precision mascara has an innovative formula which expands, thereby plumping the lashes for an instant volume. In a single stroke of the wand, you can achieve an intense color.
Le Volume de Chanel mascara comes with the exclusive Snowflakes brush wand which combines short and long bristles. Using it both on the upper and lower lashes will make your eyes appear brighter and more open.
There had been Spring collections from Chanel that were better than this one. However, some of the items here are still worth purchasing. My favorite is the Sunkiss Ribbon blush. Sunrise Trip Le Vernis, too. If I can only get my hands on one!
Have you already bought items from the Chanel Spring 2016 Makeup collection? Which one is your favorite?
