Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in 170 Rose Glacier had been released recently, together with the Vitalumiere Loose Powder Foundation and the Le Blanc de Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base.
A little more than 2 weeks after I first laid eyes on Rose Glacier, I went back to Rustans in Makati and was able to purchase Rose Glacier blush, finally! One of the Chanel SAs said that it was the only one left, but since she’s new I didn’t really believe her. 🙂 But still, I didn’t want to take my chances, especially since I didn’t know if they would still be able to restock it because I’ve heard that it was a Limited Edition.
What Chanel says about Joues Contraste:
The touch of colour and radiance.
Offers effects from very natural to very sophisticated. Used as a simple touch of colour, it gives your complexion a healthy glow. As a professional tool, it shapes and models your face (cheekbones, browbones, forehead, chin, along the nose).
Manufactured by a process exclusive to CHANEL, the compact and silky texture of JOUES CONTRASTE gives easy application and subtle blending. The brush is made of natural hair.
Highlighting your cheekbones enhances the youthful appearance of your face. For the eye zone, choose a satiny tone to soften and rejuvenate this area.
Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in 170 Rose Glacier is a warm, medium pink with golden shimmers. On the pan, there’s quite a bit of gold shimmers. At first, I was afraid that the shimmers will accentuate my pores, and make my cheeks appear more oily than usual.
Once Rose Glacier is blended, though, the shimmers transform into a very lovely sheen that makes for a healthy, glowy finish and doesn’t accentuate my pores at all. It is a bit pigmented, so I suggest using a light hand in applying and just build it up as you desire. Rose Glacier lasts for about 6 hours on me and fades into a beautiful rosy glow.
Above photo shows how pretty Rose Glacier is on the cheeks. It brightens up my face, and the golden shimmers do not show up but rather translates into a healthy glow. Definitely HG material! 🙂
Color comparison swatches from L-R: Chanel JC in 170 Rose Glacier, Chanel JC in 87 Sakura and Burberry Light Glow in 04 Peony. (Photo above)
I had wanted to swatch it side by side with my Chanel JC in Pink Explosion which had been my HG pink blush for 2 years before I bought Sakura (reviewed here), and now Rose Glacier, but couldn’t find it in my stash. 🙁
Rose Glacier is housed in the classic Joues Contraste black compact with mirror, and comes with the small Chanel blush brush that I don’t really use but is still cute to look at. It also comes with the velvet black pouch with Chanel logo that helps protect the case from scratches and dust, especially if you carry it in your bag.
I bought Rose Glacier for Php2,350 from Rustans in Makati. As of this posting, Rose Glacier is not available at Chanel.com and Nordstrom.com where Chanel JC blushes normally sell for $45.
While it is available here in Asia, I heard that Rose Glacier will not be released in the US. Is this true? Or maybe it will be released at a later date… I don’t really like it when some makeup items are made exclusive to some regions only. Have you been able to grab this blush? Did you like it too?
