Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in 847 Envol is the only cream eyeshadow released in the Chanel Holiday 2014 Collection Plumes Precieuses de Chanel. It reminds me of Emerveille, which is one of the first Illusion D’Ombre cream eyeshadows launched by Chanel back in 2011.
Chanel Holiday 2014 Collection Plumes Precieuses de Chanel is inspired by the luminous feathers and sparkling diamonds of Gabrielle Chanel’s original fine jewelry collection, the Holiday 2014 colour range from the Chanel Makeup Studio illuminates the complexion with softness and grace. Silver and gold shades flutter against fiery reds and shimmering peach tones for dramatic holiday beauty.
Chanel describes Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow:
This intensely shimmering long-wear eyeshadow offers true versatility. An innovative gel texture that is both soft and cushiony allows it to be worn as eyeshadow or eyeliner. Includes a specially designed shadow/liner brush, developed specifically for this unique formula.
Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in 847 Envol is classified as a shimmering peach. In the cute little glass jar where it is housed, Envol looks like a warm-toned medium peach with lots of silver sparkles.
When swatched on my arm, it turns more pinkish than peach. I think this is because the shimmers catch the light and play tricks on my eyes. LOL!
I love how the silver shimmers turn into gold, pink, violet and even blue sparkles. It’s very frustrating not being able to capture them on camera. I would love for you to be able to see how they sparkle beautifully.
Envol is a very gorgeous peach on my eyes, and the shimmers add brightness and life to my rather dull and stressed eyes. The picture above is the best I can do because it’s really hard to photograph it.
It is so versatile as it can be used as a light base to other eye makeup, as a highlight to the center of the lids or simply as a bright wash of color. Definitely a must-have eyeshadow! 😀
The texture of Envol eyeshadow is super buttery-soft and creamy. It applies smoothly and does not clump at all. Even on my oily lids, Envol stays put for 10 hours, and I believe it will last longer than this but I haven’t tested it yet beyond 10 hours.
Color and Texture comparisons from L-R: Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in 82 Emerveille blended and swatched; and Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in 847 Envol swatched then blended. (Photo above)
Emerveille is lighter and more on the frosty side than Envol, but I love how the sparkles in Envol create more dimension. Emerveille looks like a metallic silvery pink which is good as a highlight for the eyes, but Envol being a shimmering peach will also work as a bright wash of color for the whole lid and not just as a highlight.
Honestly, I haven’t really used Emerveille much ever since I bought it, but with Envol, I think I will definitely hit pan! I will finally see the bottom of these cute Illusion D’Ombre jars. Hmmm… I wonder if I can reuse these pots.. but use it for what? I am too lazy to create my own mix of cosmetics. 😉
I bought Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in 847 Envol for PhP 1,950 from Chanel in Rustans Makati. It is a Limited Edition, so if you’re planning on buying this really awesome eyeshadow, I suggest you buy it now before it’s gone for good! It is also available for $36 from Nordstrom and Saks.
Chanel Envol is shining, shimmering splendidness that is Peach Perfect. This is now my favorite Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow and Utopia (reviewed here) only comes second to it.
