Chanel Etourdie Rouge Coco Shine 98 is one of 2 Rouge Coco Shines released in the Chanel Spring 2015 Collection Reverie Parisienne. The other one is Desinvolte and both are not listed as Limited Edition in Chanel’s website. Yay! I love Rouge Coco Shines and these two are both great colors to add to my collection. But I will talk about Desinvolte another day, since I haven’t tried it yet. Today will be all about Etourdie.

COLLECTION REVERIE PARISIENNE
Beauty blooms with a captivating colour collection inspired by the springtime gardens of Paris. Vibrant corals lend balance to wistful, satiny shades of pink, creating an enchanting spectrum of shades that range from delicate to deep.

The next chapter in the brilliant ROUGE COCO SHINE story: ROUGE COCO SHINE Hydrating Colour Lipshine, an innovative formula with intensified pigments to take colour and sheen to a new level of vibrancy. Sheer, shiny, colour-rich shades are effortlessly chic, infinitely wearable. Hydratendre Complex softens and plumps lips for a healthier, fuller appearance.
Color, Texture and Finish
Etourdie Rouge Coco Shine is a shimmery raspberry pink. It has silver micro shimmers that add glam to the medium-dark shade. Etourdie has a beautiful glossy and shimmery finish. It is a bit sheer, sheerer than most new Rouge Coco Shines like Boheme.
In the arm swatch below, you can see how it is still semi-sheer even with 9 swipes. If I need to use 9 layers on my pigmented lips each time, then I think I’m going to use it up in no time at all. 🙁
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Etourdie is very creamy and smooth. It glides on the lips without any tugging and does not settle into the lip lines. It doesn’t accentuate dry and flaky patches.
The past days when I’ve been testing it on my lips, I didn’t bother exfoliating my lips prior to application. I also didn’t apply a separate lip balm.
In the photos for this post, I also didn’t bother using a lip liner in order to capture the true color of Chanel Etourdie. However, I feel that I would appreciate it better if I use a matching lip liner or lipstick underneath it.
Etourdie melts into my lips and feels really light, not at all like a regular lip balm. On my lips, it looks very sheer but extremely glossy and shiny.
Even if I layer it and build up the color on my lips, some of my true lip color still shows through. However, it still looks pretty. More like an MLBB (my-lips-but-better) lip color.
Even though Chanel Etourdie is glossy, it’s not as sticky as a lip gloss. My stray hair strands don’t get stuck in them. 😀
Moisture, Wear and Longevity
Compared to the first Rouge Coco Shines released like Boy, Etourdie is more hydrating. I love that it doesn’t suck the moisture from my lips.
Even though it has micro shimmers, Etourdie Rouge Coco Shine still feels moisturizing on my lips. But since it is sheer, it only lasts for about 2 to 3 hours on my lips.
After eating and drinking, I need to reapply Chanel Etourdie because it is definitely gone with the food! No stain whatsoever. But who really expects a colored lip balm to leave a stain, right?
I don’t really mind reapplying it over and over again. Because I know that I can always buy another one if I run out. Since it’s part of the permanent line. I just hope that it doesn’t get discontinued.
In the swatches below, you can see how sheer it is. I used 9 swipes for Etourdie, but only 1 swipe for both Rendez-vous and Saga.

Wrapping It Up
Overall, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 98 Etourdie is a great lip product. I just don’t consider it as a lipstick, but as a tinted lip balm. Which is basically what it really is, anyways! 😉
If you want a sheer and hydrating tinted lip balm, then you might want to consider swatching Etourdie. As it is really sheer, the color would be different depending on your natural lip color.
My lips are pigmented, so it is a bit more tinted on my lips. Because my natural lip color can be seen through. 😉 But I love it because it is very much hydrating on me!
I bought Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 98 Etourdie from Chanel in Rustans Makati for Php 1,650. Alternatively, it is also available online for $35 at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

The shade is good, plus the shimmer pa . I love it 🙂
Looks good on your lips too.
Thanks Hanna! Yeah, it’s really pretty and I love that it’s shimmery but not overly so when worn on the lips. 🙂
I came across your Chanel Etourdie review and wanted to ask you if this is still available in store? any online store? Thank you.
Since Etourdie is not a limited edition item, it should still be available for purchase from either Nordstrom.com or NeimanMarcus.com. For physical stores, it would depend on stock availability at each store. Have a great time shopping! xoxo
This is great for everyday use. I can wear it alone or layered over another color. It’s super moisturizing and keeps my lips soft and hydrated. Love this lipstick, and the color too!
