Chanel Camelia Rose Blush Jardin de Chanel is a Limited Edition blush released in the Chanel Spring 2015 Collection Reverie Parisienne. The other blush released in the collection, Chanel Angelique blush, is not listed as a Limited Edition. If I had to choose between the two, I like Angelique better. It is cheaper by $10 (or Php500 in Manila), and has double the amount of product than Camelia Rose. I also love how Angelique looks on my cheeks.
But, Camelia Rose is still pretty and a great blush to add to my collection. The flower design is so gorgeous that I didn’t want to disturb it at first. But once I did decide to try it, I immediately loved it!
Chanel Spring 2015 Makeup Collection
Beauty blooms with a captivating colour collection inspired by the springtime gardens of Paris. Vibrant corals lend balance to wistful, satiny shades of pink, creating an enchanting spectrum of shades that range from delicate to deep.
CHANEL JARDIN DE CHANEL
Blush Camelia Rose
A romantic blush with irresistible charm to sweep over cheekbones like a springtime breeze. Slipped into a pouch, the black lacquered case highlights a delicate powder and reveals a raised camellia motif. A duo of pinks, one delicate and one more intense, recalls the delicate grace and purity of the favorite flower of Mademoiselle Chanel. It makes cheeks blush with all the freshness of spring.
Chanel Jardin de Chanel Blush Camelia Rose has two shades of pink. The lighter shade is a cool-toned, light pink while the other one is a warm-toned, medium rosy pink. On the pan, there’s quite a bit of silver shimmers. I had a bit of a hard time trying to make the lighter pink show up on my skin. But the blush shades were not meant to be used separately. The brush will have to be swirled in the pan so that both shades will be picked up.
Once Camelia Rose blush is blended, the resulting color is so beautiful. It’s not too rosy, but a lovely pink that looks like a natural flush of color. I was afraid that the shimmers will accentuate my pores, but I found that I didn’t have to worry. The shimmers transform into a very lovely sheen that makes for a healthy, glowy finish and doesn’t accentuate my pores at all. It is a bit pigmented, so I suggest using a light hand in applying and just build it up as you desire.
Chanel Camelia Rose blush is almost matte on my cheeks. The powder blush is finely milled and I had no trouble blending it. It lasts for about 7 to 8 hours on my combination dry/oily skin and fades into a beautiful pink glow.
Above photo shows how pretty Camelia Rose is on the cheeks. It brightens up my face, and the silver shimmers do not show up but rather translates into a healthy glow. In this photo, though, I used a foundation which oxidized big time on me. So my skin here is a bit dark, and Camelia Rose was too light on me. I believe that this blush will work better on fair to light skintones. For medium skintones like how I ended up when I used this foundation, it has to be built up for it to show on the cheeks.
Camelia Rose is housed in the same classic Joues Contraste black compact with mirror, and also comes with the small Chanel blush brush. However, Joues Contraste blushes are dome shaped while these are flat except for the embossed design. It also comes with the velvet black pouch with Chanel logo that helps protect the case from scratches and dust, especially if you carry it in your bag.
I bought Camelia Rose blush for Php2,850 from Chanel in Rustans Makati. It costs Php500 more than the regular Chanel Joues Contraste blushes. It also has 50% less product, 3g as opposed to JC blush which has 6g. As of this posting, it is still available at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue for $55.
Would you buy a blush at this expensive price? Or would you rather buy a dupe? What do you think about Chanel Camelia Rose blush? Is it a yay or nay for you?
