Chanel Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder is the highlight of the Holiday 2014 Collection Plumes Precieuses de Chanel. Camelia de Plumes was not really on my wish list because I’m not much of a highlighter kind of girl, but I just couldn’t resist buying it.
There is only 1 highlighter in my makeup collection, Chanel Perlee Glow which I bought around 2 years ago, and I have only used it for a few times before it was stashed away. Well, I still take it out from time to time, just to swatch it on my arm. I love swatching makeup on my arm even when I’m at home. When I’m stressed, doing this kind of relaxes me and looking at swatches makes me really happy. 🙂
Today is a Savvy Sunday, but I just couldn’t wait to tell you about Chanel Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder which I had bought only yesterday. Chanel in Rustans Makati still didn’t have a tester for it so I couldn’t swatch it on my arm at the counter and just blindly bought it.
Chanel describes Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder:
Illuminate cheekbones, eyelids or décolleté with a translucent veil of silver and gold. Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s original Fine Jewelry creations, this precious, limited-edition accessory is embossed with a feather motif in the shape of a camellia.
With the beautiful feather design of Chanel Camelia de Plumes, I initially thought that I wouldn’t want to touch it so as not to mess up its look. But swatching it on my arm, I saw how lovely it was! Who cares about messing up the beautiful design when the highlighter itself is this gorgeous? Especially because I noticed that there’s a small crack near the center which I hadn’t seen at the counter probably because of my excitement with my new Chanel haul (more on that next week on my ShopaHAULic Saturdays post). Oh well, it’s still very pretty even with the small crack.
Chanel Camelia de Plumes looks almost pewter in the pan. In some lightings it looks silver and in some, almost golden. I can’t stop admiring it because it’s just too beautiful.
I swatched it side by side with my Chanel Perlee Glow and you can really see the difference in their texture. Perlee Glow is chalky and almost milky white. While Camelia de Plumes is almost buttery soft and the color is a cross between silver and gold.
I used Camelia de Plumes last night, and after partying for a few hours at my favorite Korean hangout place, Club Zzyzx, and having an early breakfast at Go Kizip restaurant, it was still in place! That was a whopping 7 hours on my oily face! I really love Camelia de Plumes. Take note that this is coming from someone who doesn’t like using highlighters! I see myself using Camelia de Plumes a lot, well at least on nights out, because I still don’t think I would use it during the day. 🙂
Chanel Camelia de Plumes applies really well. I didn’t have to take a lot product for it to show up and it feels very soft, almost creamy and buttery. I had to be careful not to overdo it though, because it has a tendency to accentuate pores. It was not silvery and glittery on my face, but it gives a beautiful sheen that is subtle but still delivers the healthy glow that we all desire.
I bought it from Chanel in Rustans Makati and at Php3,650, it is pretty expensive for a highlighter. But I can say that Chanel Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder is worth every penny and it’s a real must-have for highlighter enthusiasts. If you want to buy it, you should hurry to your nearest Chanel counter because it’s a Limited Edition. Alternatively, you may also buy it from Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus (where it’s still available as of posting) for $72.
Do you use a highlighter for your everyday makeup? Have you bought or will you be buying Chanel Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder?
