Maybelline Color Show Party Pink Lipstick (108) is yet another lip color from the Color Show Lipsticks collection released last year. It is one of the Perfect Pink shades in the line. I guess you can tell how much I love these Color Show lipsticks because I can’t get enough of them. It’s a good thing that some of these shades are out of stock, or I might end up buying all shades in the collection. Lol!
These Color Show lipsticks are great additions to any lipstick addict’s collection. They are very affordable, but the shades are really beautiful and the texture and finishes are awesome. There are a few that are a bit drying on my lips, but Party Pink is not one of them. Hurrah! I’m glad that this is not one of the few that I didn’t like. It would be a real shame if it was drying because I really love its shade, texture, finish, longevity, practically everything about it! 😀

MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW PARTY PINK LIPSTICK
Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in Party Pink is a cool-toned, medium pink with a cream finish. It is very bright without being neon-y. It doesn’t have any micro shimmers but the finish is quite shiny.
Like most of the Color Show lipsticks I’ve tried, it also has a fruity candy scent and taste. If I smell it directly in the bullet, the scent is quite strong. But once applied on the lips, I barely notice it anymore. However, for those who are sensitive to scent and taste, this may be a bit annoying for them. I don’t like licking my lips when I have this lipstick full-on. But that’s how I feel with all lipsticks in general. So what I do is blot until most of the scent and taste is gone. 😉
In the arm swatch above, you will notice how shiny Party Pink is. It is almost glossy even when worn on the lips. If you don’t like your lipsticks to be too shiny, then you can simply blot it to get rid of the sheen. One swipe of this lipstick gives a semi opaque coverage. With 3 swipes, I get a more even and opaque coverage.
It works even on pigmented lips like mine. The lipstick can be built-up for more coverage, and once worn full-on opaque, the natural lip color is covered well enough.
Because Maybelline Party Pink has a very creamy finish, it applies like a dream without any tugging nor dragging. It glides smoothly and imparts color evenly across the lips. Because it is very smooth and creamy, it tends to slide around at first. But after blotting with a clean tissue paper, it sets really well and stays put. It also doesn’t bleed nor feather on my lips. However, if you’re prone to lipstick feathering, it would be advisable to use a lip liner underneath it.
Maybelline Party Pink lipstick doesn’t settle into lip lines. It also doesn’t accentuate dry and patchy flakes on chapped lips. But I would still recommend exfoliating the lips beforehand and moisturizing with a good lip balm just to be sure, and for added hydration and protection. It isn’t drying on my lips, and even feels a bit moisturizing.
After eating and drinking, the lip color stays put and I don’t have to reapply it. But with heavy eating, especially with greasy foods, the lip color left is patchy. There is a bit of stain left, but it’s not enough not to warrant a fresh layer of the lipstick. I use Party Pink on party nights where I don’t eat heavily, and I must say that it’s really long-lasting. It lasts around 6 to 7 hours on my lips without any reapplication in between.
On my lips, it is a very bright, cool-toned pink. I love that it doesn’t look neon-y but it’s bright enough that it brightens up my face. If I do the blot technique, it sets really well and doesn’t slide around my lips. I also love wearing Maybelline Color Show Party Pink lipstick during the day paired with minimal eye makeup. Usually just a light wash of shimmery eyeshadow on the entire lids and winged eyeline, plus natural-looking false lashes or just use mascara on just my upper lashes. For the blush, I apply a light pink shade which looks very natural.

Maybelline recommends to apply the lipcolor by starting in the center of the upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of the lip, following the contours of the mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip. Pretty much how we directly apply our lipsticks. 🙂
The package looks sturdy enough and is very light because it’s just plastic. It’s just a plain, shiny black plastic casing with a transparent, colored band around the middle which indicates the color group it belongs to. This one has a pink band because it is one of the Perfect Pink shades.
I bought my Maybelline Color Show Party Pink Lipstick for Php165 from Maybelline in Robinsons Manila. It is a very wearable pink shade. I believe that it would be a great shade for Summer because it’s really bright.
Have you tried Maybelline Color Show Party Pink Lipstick? Do you also like how bright it is?
