Diorskin Star Studio Makeup Spectacular Brightening Weightless Perfection SPF30 PA++ is the new star in my makeup collection, for the foundation category, that is. It had outshone my previous HG foundations, Make Up For Ever HD and Chanel Perfection Lumiere. This is actually my first ever Dior foundation and I wouldn’t have known about it, and eventually bought it, had I not received a text message from my local Dior store encouraging me to check it out.
What Dior says about it:
Inspired by the professional illuminating techniques and expertise of its makeup artists, Dior invents Diorskin Star, it’s first brightening foundation: a weightless fluid capable of instantly and over time recreating the spectacular and perfecting light of Dior’s studios.
Innovative formula: a complexion bathed in light
Boasting Light Pulsion™ technology, Diorskin Star formulas give a whole new dimension to light with 2-fold brightening action.
1. A complexion that is instantly more luminous and visibly evener.
A new generation of hollow silica beads captures and diffuses light in a correcting halo with no shine. At the same time, colour-filter pigments adapt to each skin tone and neutralize colour imbalances to recreate the perfect light.
2. Day after day, a clarified, purer, more dazzling complexion.
Anti-“light trap” skincare ingredients target action at the source of the skin’s brightness and radiance: with each application they help reduce the appearance of dark areas, pigment spots and redness.
I bought Diorskin Star Studio foundation in the shade 010 which has a neutral undertone. Looking at the color on the bottle, it seems too light for me. But I had tried both 020 and 021, and although 021 appeared to be the perfect match for me upon application, it had oxidized after just a few minutes on me (020 oxidized on me as well). The MUA at Dior then asked me to try 010, and as expected, it was lighter than my current skintone and was a little pink, but after a few minutes, it had oxidized, blended and adapted beautifully to my skintone.
010 – Ivory – Light with neutral undertone
020 – Light Beige – Light Medium with neutral undertone
021 – Linen – Light Medium with yellow undertone
Innovative texture: a weightless fluid
With extreme finesse and incredible glide, this fluid boasts an evanescent texture with a barely-there feel that leaves nothing on the skin but a correcting veil of pure light. A texture with a new sensation and flawless coverage, it provides comfort and hold all day long.
Diorskin Star is available in a wide range of shades to create custom tone for any skin.
2 pumps of Diorskin Star Studio foundation is all it takes to create a medium to full coverage, depending on the size of your face. My face is round and there are more areas to cover, so 2 pumps is for medium coverage on me. I think I can add another pump for full coverage, but I prefer just a medium coverage to make it more natural. The finish is not dewy nor matte, it’s luminous!
It has a high SPF30 PA++ sun protection, but it doesn’t look ghostly and ghastly in photos. Diorskin Star foundation creates a soft focus look. My skin looks like it is already flawless to begin with. Light and small blemishes are covered, but some larger and darker ones still need the power of a concealer. I couldn’t capture it quite well in the photo below, but I have several pimple marks and freckles on my face, and Diorskin Star was able to cover them all, but still feels light on the skin.
I can say that Diorskin Star foundation is safe for my sensitive skin. This is the first time I have used a foundation where I didn’t experience any breakouts at all. Whenever I use a new skin product, especially with foundations, primers or powder, I usually end up with a zit right after removing it. But that is not the case with Diorskin Star. Another plus! 🙂
The foundation is housed in an elegant glass bottle with the traditional CD cap. It comes with a pump that precisely dispenses the product, thus wasting nothing and does not clog at all.
Use Diorskin Star foundation on fully cleansed and moisturized skin. Dab some foundation on the back of your hand and apply to the face, starting in the T- zone and moving toward the outer contours using upward strokes.
