I had wanted to try the Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners ever since I read raves and praises about them. So, I was extremely happy when I found out that The SM Store now carries the brand. It was last week when I dropped by The SM Store, and bought my new Clio Gelpresso Liners. They had a Buy One Get One promo, so I was able to bring home 2 instead of just 1 Gelpresso. Great deal, if you ask me. 🙂
The 2 shades I chose were 4 and 12. I had such high hopes for them so I didn’t really bother scrutinizing their texture and just based my decision on their colors.
CLIO GELPRESSO WATERPROOF PENCIL GEL LINER in Shade 12 (Dark Choco)
The first color I chose is shade 12, which is described as a Dark Choco. Lately, I tend to buy brown eyeliners more than black because aside from having a lot of black eyeliners already, browns are so much more useful to me. Dark Choco is something that I can use everyday because it emphasizes the eyes without looking too overly-dramatic. When the SA swatched it for me at the store, I thought it was just a plain dark brown color. But when I swatched it at home, I found that it has gold glitters! Hmmmm… I totally didn’t expect that.
Gelpresso Liner shade 12 (Dark Choco) is a dark chocolate brown with yellow gold glitters. The glitters are small enough that they are not very noticeable once applied. On my eyes, Clio Dark Choco is a beautiful dark brown, and its gold shimmers add to the brightening effect so that my eyes look bright and bigger in a natural way. It’s also very easy to use. Dark Choco feels a bit creamy and is smooth enough that it didn’t drag on my eyelids during application. It also didn’t clump at all, which is what I normally experience with other gel liners as well.

Dark Choco dried quickly, so when I tried to rub it off gently, it didn’t smudge at all. Great, right? But if I want to create a smokey effect, it’s kind of hard to smudge given that it dries really fast, even if I do it quickly after application. It promises to be waterproof and long-lasting, and I can attest to it being waterproof. However, Clio Dark Choco is not really oily-lid resistant. After about 4 hours, the line on the outer corner of my eyes, which tends to get oily, fades and smudges a bit. 🙁
CLIO GELPRESSO WATERPROOF PENCIL GEL LINER in Shade 4
Next up, the other color I bought, which I’d like to think is the freebie because of how I feel about it, is shade 4. It’s a really beautiful light yellow gold, but (yeah, there’s a BUT) it’s loaded with lots of glitters. Literally, a lot! I thought it would look good as a highlighter on my eyelids that’s why I chose to buy it. Swatching it on my arm, though, I found that it’s a bit hard to apply and blend.
It was the same story on my eyes. I’m not sure if it’s just this one pencil that I’ve bought, but the texture is a bit dry and hard. Applying it on my eyes makes me wince because it tugs on my skin really bad, and some of the glitters don’t really stick but just falls off. Shade 4 is nothing but a glittery mess, and I really regret buying it. 🙁
Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner is packaged as a retractable pencil which you only have to twist to get more product out. It also comes with a sharpener at the other end, so no need to use a separate pencil (makeup) sharpener.
• Sharpen the eyeliner with the attached sharpener, if desired.
• Gently hold your eyelid taut and draw the line starting from the center of the eye to the outer corner, and from the center again to the inner corner of the eye.
• Wing out the line in the outer corner a bit after drawing the line.
• To use as a highlighter, simply apply the color at the center of each lid and blend a bit.
I paid Php475 for the 2 shades, so it’s like I only paid Php237.50 for each shade. I bought them from Watsons inside The SM Store – Mall Of Asia and I think that Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner in general is a pretty good buy, but there are other gel liners out there that are much better. Also, don’t waste money on shade 4 if you’re not into glitters. 😀
Have you tried these gel liners from Clio? If you had already tried shade 4, did you have a better experience with it than me? Do you prefer these Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners over the traditional pencil eyeliners?
