When Chanel released their first Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets almost 3 years ago, I was so excited with the new range that I bought four out of the available shades – La Ravissante, La Caline, La Fascinante and La Raffinee. Sadly though, all four of them made my lips as dry as the Sahara! But this didn’t stop me from buying another one, this time I only bought La Distinguee. Tried it once I got home and still experienced the same drying effect. 🙁 I ended up giving all five of them away. Such a waste! Especially since they were all great shades on me. 🙁
Then came Spring of 2013. Chanel released new Rouge Allure Velvets, and I caved in once again. I took home both L’Eclatante and La Favorite. I loved both colors and even though they still dried out my lips like crazy (even with a lip balm underneath), I just grinned and bore it. For the whole springtime, they were the only lipsticks that I wore. But then, I noticed that my lips were like dying, the Velvets were sucking out the life from my lips! I decided it was time to let them go as well.
Earlier this year, I bought yet another one! I guess I’m that stubborn. LOL! But, I’m proud to say that my stubbornness sometimes give good results. This is one of those times… Hoorah! Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 46 La Malicieuse is an instant favorite. It was the first ever Velvet that didn’t dry out my lips.
What Chanel says:
Elevating matte to a new elegance, this next-generation, non-drying matte lipstick glides on lips with intensely rich, long-wearing colour and a sumptuously soft, velvet matte finish.
La Malicieuse has a velvety, satin-matte finish and on my lips it looks like a really gorgeous strawberry red. It glides on my lips without any tugging.
When swatched on my arm, La Malicieuse looks a bit sheer with 1 swipe, but is opaque with 2 swipes.
On the lips, though, it isn’t as sheer. There is a little bit of sheen which disappears after about an hour and what’s left is a very pretty matte red. The color lasts a long time, too, and leaves a very nice stain (photo of stained lips below).
I tried to remove the swatches on my arm, and even washed my arm twice, but the stain is still visible.
One of the things I like about La Malicieuse is that it’s Permanent. I think I’ll be able to finish this tube, so it’s very reassuring, knowing that I can always buy another one. I couldn’t find its box so I can’t confirm, but if I remember correctly, the price I paid for it is Php1,750.
