What better way to spend Friday night than to party with friends, right? I know that you already have friends who are always more than willing to chill with you the whole night. You also know the best party place in town where you can de-stress with your friends. But, do you have a shimmery eyeshadow that is sure to make you the talk of the party? Or at least one that will make your friends envious?

I know that it can be frustrating for some to apply eyeshadow. But when you know how to apply it correctly, it could be life-changing, or should I say look-changing. You could go from plain Jane to K-Pop artist in a flash!

These cream eyeshadows from Chanel do not disappoint. In terms of formula, texture, color and longevity, they really deliver.

Chanel New Moon had been released last summer as a Limited Edition item. It had been repromoted this year as part of the Chanel Fall Collection Les Automnales. So if you had missed out last year, now is the chance to get it. It’s currently back-ordered at Nordstrom, but it’s in-stock at Neiman Marcus.

Illusion D’Ombre in New Moon may look burgundy, brown, or even copper. But what’s more noticeable is its luminous and iridescent sparkle.

Don’t be fooled by its dark color in the jar. Once applied and blended, it’s not as dark and can even be pretty light for some with darker skintones.

Chanel New Moon has bits of red and gold glitters which can clump if you’re not careful. I find it best to use the back of my hand to remove the excess amount from the brush before applying it on the lids or lash line. This way, there won’t be any clumping and it’s easier to blend out. When I’m too lazy to use a brush and just use my finger, I also remove the excess by wiping it first at the (clean) back of my hand.

Even though it’s a bit opaque especially when the color is built-up, you can also sheer it out if you like it otherwise.

Lately, I’ve been into coral and pink eyeshadows because they seem to make the eyes look younger. While New Moon is neither pink nor coral, it’s still a welcome change from the usual matte brown eyes.

You might have noticed in the photo above how very much opaque Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow Laurier Rose is. Especially when swatched beside New Moon. But that’s beside the point. I bought New Moon not for its opacity but because of the shimmers! 😉

When not blended thoroughly, some of the glittery bits do tend to fall out. But that is acceptable, especially with shimmery eyeshadows. It’s a fair trade when you want to have glamorous eyes to compliment your makeup. You might be glad to know that this wears well over 8 hours on my oily lids. Achieve! 😀

Now on to my other favorite shimmery eyeshadow…

102 MYSTERIO

Chanel Mysterio was released as part of the Collection La Perle de Chanel earlier this year. When I first bought items from the collection, I hadn’t been able to buy Mysterio because it was not available at the time. So I had only been able to buy it around June, I think. Nevertheless, Mysterio is definitely worth the long wait. 😉

Mysterio is a silvery-white, almost metallic eyeshadow. Like New Moon, it is also very shimmery. However, this is not as glittery so I experience less fall out. It looks pretty cool-toned, especially when compared to the more warm-toned New Moon.

I love the buttery-soft texture of Mysterio. It applies smoothly and blends so easily. The color is not fully opaque, but it can easily be built-up. Personally, though, I like it applied just lightly.

Etude House Play 101 Pencil #3 can be over glittery at times. So when I want a less subtle, but still shimmery, eye look, I go for Mysterio.

As an overall wash of color, though, I wouldn’t recommend Mysterio. That is, unless you want your whole lid to be shimmery. What I use it for is mainly to highlight the center of the lids. I also use it on the inner corner of the eyes and also along the inner part of the lower lash line.

The longevity of Mysterio is superb! Even after 8 hours, it’s still in place without any creasing. That being said, you should remember how important it is to remove makeup before going to bed. Use a good eye makeup remover if you don’t want to sleep with shimmery bits all over your eyes.

These long-wear, shimmering eyeshadows are so versatile. You can wear them either as eyeshadow or eyeliner. They have a gel texture that’s super soft and cushiony. What’s even better? Each eyeshadow includes a specially designed eyeshadow/eyeliner brush that had been developed especially for this formula.

Both New Moon and Mysterio are gorgeous and I’m really glad that I got them. You’ll still be able to buy them from Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Just hurry before they become unavailable again! 😉

Do you also love shimmery eyeshadows? Have you tried either Chanel New Moon or Mysterio Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous eyeshadows?
