To be honest, I wasn’t really planning on buying Chanel Ardoise Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner 912. But when I swatched it at the counter, I was convinced. It was not an ordinary intense black eyeliner which was what I normally have in my collection. It looks like a plain old gray shade, but there was something about it that appealed to me. I didn’t find out until I got home that day. I haven’t bought any eyeliner in this shade before, so I was really convinced that I really needed to add it to my collection. I’m so glad that I bought it. And that it is not a Limited Edition item.

Chanel describes Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner:
Waterproof, smudge-proof eyeliner delivers long-lasting definition with a twist of the wrist: Colour winds up when you need it, winds down when you don’t. Gentle, soft, silicone-enriched formula delivers smooth, even lining. A built-in sharpener at the opposite end detaches for quick refreshes.
Intense neutrals define an enticing eye look.
CHANEL ARDOISE 912 STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF LONG LASTING EYELINER
Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Ardoise is classified as an intense gray. When I swatched it at the Chanel counter, I thought it was just a plain gray color. But when I got home and swatched it on my arm, I found that it has bits of micro shimmers. So THAT was the hidden factor (at least it was hidden to me while I was at the counter) that made it interesting for me. In the arm swatch below, the shimmers are barely noticeable but it adds to the glamour of this gray shade. It is semi-opaque with just 1 swipe, but the color gets more intense once it is built-up.
Ardoise eyeliner is an intense gray with a creamy and subtly shimmery finish. The shimmers in it are not too obvious once worn on the eyes. They are small enough that they are not very noticeable once applied. On my eyes, it is a beautiful dark and smoky gray. It is very smooth and creamy, and applies without dragging on my eyelids. I didn’t experience any fallouts and the shimmers added a very subtle effect that adds to its overall greatness.
Ardoise dries fast, but I find that if I want to smudge it immediately after application, I can do it easily by using a smudging brush or even just my fingers. Although, if I smudged it with just my fingers, the result is a little uneven. Like how it looks in the pictures above. 😉 Once it sets, it doesn’t smudge. I don’t get raccoon eyes after a few hours with this eyeliner. It lasts really long on my oily lids, about 6 to 7 hours. It really lives up to its promise of being a waterproof long lasting eyeliner. Aside from being an oily-lid proof eyeliner as well.

Lower line – Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil #10
Removing Chanel Ardoise will need a good eye makeup remover. Especially when used to tightline the eyes. I have to do a sort of double cleansing in order to remove all of it from my lash lines. But I’m not complaining. I’d rather use twice the amount of makeup remover than to have my eyeliner smudging on me around the first or second hour after application.
It is packaged as a retractable pencil which you only have to twist to get more product out. It also comes with a sharpener at the other end, so there is no need to buy and use a separate pencil makeup sharpener.
• Sharpen the eyeliner with the included sharpener at the other end. This will not only give a more pointed tip, but will also remove any oil and bacteria build-up.
• Gently hold your eyelid taut and draw the line starting from the center of the eye to the outer corner, and from the center again to the inner corner of the eye.
• Wing out the line in the outer corner a bit after drawing the line.
• To use with a smokey eye makeup look, smudge until the desired effect is achieved.
I love how Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Ardoise doesn’t look too harsh on my eyes like regular black eyeliners. It has a softer effect especially when smudged out, but still accentuates the eyes. I bought it for Php1,350 from Chanel in Rustans Makati. I’m glad that it’s not a Limited Edition, so I can always buy another one after I finish this one up. It’s also available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Saks for $32.
